Common questions

Good to know

Do I need a lawyer at VCAT?

You can represent yourself, but a short consultation to prepare your evidence and arguments often makes a big difference. For more complex matters we can seek leave to represent you at the hearing.

What does the first consultation cost?

A fixed fee of $180 for 30 minutes or $300 for 60 minutes, agreed up front with no hourly surprises. If your matter needs ongoing work, your lawyer will quote you clearly before anything proceeds.

Can we meet online, and in my language?

Yes. Consultations are available by video anywhere in Victoria, and we can arrange a lawyer or interpreter who speaks your language.
